 Beautiful! I have drank a few bottles of the the biferno but this was my first Tor del Colle. Plums, red cherries, tobacco and a hint of coffee. Smooth as silk with nice drying tannins. Firmly in my mid week range but more my taste than some more expensive easy drinkers. I have slipped a lot more of this into my basket for next winter! theodore b. Would go well with bloody red meat, fried meat or a rich beef stew. Oak and caramel are present with subtle but present tannins. Susan C. All those fruits are replicated on the palate, in a very soft, creamy smooth delight with vanilla notes. To get the best out of it, I did the "naked shake" then decanted it though an aerator. In the mouth, it was all dark fruit. At first, I thought the finish was a bit weak. Then I took the dog for a walk and realised I still had a dark fruity taste with mild spices in my throat. Some reviews have suggested strong tannins. At first I didn't agree, but when finishing the bottle later, I did feel the tannins come through. Still loved it and will buy this again. A great wine for the price. Gerald F. If you have yet to try it, please do, it's a snip at the price. I came home from work wanting a winter warmer wine to start my weekend off and this fitted the bill bill completely. Beautiful deep colour in glass; powerful fruity nose and a full bodied, fruit and oak hit on the palate with a long dry finish from some very grippy tannins. I hunted high and low, trying bottle after bottle, trying to recreate that memory, some came close, now I think I've found it. Pure indulgent smooth velvet! In the past we have had it with chunky, strong foods and it holds it's own however yesterday with a lighter (pork) dish it was a bit astringent and hard work. Nick L. i'd echo all the remarks about needing to breath, the wine changes almost completely when decanted for an hour or so. when first open its very closed, not giving much away, a little fruit, quite dry, even a little thin and sharp, after some air the fruit really develops as does the depth. ive never been a huge fan of Italian wine, finding a lot of it a bit too acidic for my tastes, but i found this to be immensely drinkable, full of sweet dark fruit and very smooth seems to excel either with or without food (ham & mushroom tagliatelli with the most garlicky bread known to mankind!) the rest of the bottle was consumed very pleasurably swirling and sipping in front of the fire favoloso! jo b. really good red Jay M.
