Bumped into a friend so we went for a glass of beer (just the one glass, but filled up a couple or so times). Got home and my neighbour gave me a call. Could I help him out with something? Yes, no problem. My neighbour then opened a bottle of rather nice Beaujolais which didn't last long. We then decided to sit in said neighbour's hot tub and of course that required a can or few of beers, so by the time I got home, I couldn't really appreciate the Malbec, but I persevered, of course and promptly fell asleep clutching a glass of wine in my hand (so my wife tells me) Anyway, when day 2 came around, I felt ready to do it justice and my first impression was "why don't I drink Malbec more often?" It really was rather nice. A fruity nose of cherry and spice and fairly full bodied feel in the mouth. Loads of fresh fruity flavours. Dark cherry, blackberry, blueberry and probably a whole lot more, with a wonderful spicy sensation of pepper and liquorice with hints of chocolate to finish. A smooth, very smooth, texture in the mouth with gentle, well integrated tannins. Time to get some more Malbec - I could get quite a taste for this grape I think. Gerald F. Now it is the turn of Patricio Gougenheim and his Malbec 2010. This 13.5% abv red wine is another luscious beauty to behold; the cherry nose is slightly sweet in nature, with underlying caramel tones. To taste, it is fairly rich and succulent, really quite delicious and fruit forward. Soft and welcoming, this should appeal big time and especially when matched with the ubiquitous juicy steak - whether Argentine, Scottish or wherever it is just mmm... Made for it! Barry W. There are a growing number of malbecs on the site but, for me, this still just sneaks it as the best malbec Naked have to offer in the price range. A tempting and moody inky colour in the glass with lovely plummy aromas which follow beautifully into the palate. The 2010 does not disappoint, it's not quite as oaky as the 2009 but is a little fruitier. A great wine and I think would be even better in 3 or 4 years (if I can save them for that long). Andy G. Well after attending the Argentinian tasting for 2 years I can still say, hand on heart, this is the best Malbec I've tasted. Fruity, concentrated, minerally, the balance is perfect.
