 As some may recall, it was the Kimbao range that got me Naked and I think this might be the fourth vintage of Connie and Felipe's SB that I have tasted. So how does the latest version compare? Rather well actually. Just like Mr & Mrs D I picked up banana in the mouth and in the finish. This adds a background sweetness to the fruit flavours which are a little less grapefruit than you'd get in NZ and a little more peach and citrus. Another brilliant wine from Connie and Felipe which is again very well priced. If you haven't already tried the Kimbao range - red and white - what are you waiting for? You won't be disappointed. Tue Apr 24 06:37:44 UTC 2012 I know I've said it before, but if you like Sauvignon Blanc, Naked has got to be the place to be. It's as if you can travel the world from the comfort of your own bottle. As far as my own personal preferences are concerned, I like either an "in your face" Marlborough or I go to the other end of the spectrum and like a subtle SB from the Loire. But every now and again, it's nice to have something that sits in the middle. Something that blends the best of both extremes and in my view, the Kimbao does just that, although it probably tends more towards the Marlborough style. This is a really nice, easy drinking wine. Pale lemon in the glass, quite a powerful nose of cut grass, nettles, the inevitable gooseberry and some floral notes as well (I'm not good at identifying flowers but I'd guess elderflower) In the mouth, those aromas are joined by more citrus flavours - grapefruit and lemon I'd say with possible steely mineral hints. This is a crisp, dry, refreshingly acidic wine. It's seriously easy to drink and the bottle didn't last long. We didn't have it with food, but I'd guess it would go well with simple seafood dishes. Very light apple green in colour with a grassy nose which is followed by a crisp, tart, acidic hit of lime, pineapple & lychee. A medium length finish makes this a very quaffable little number. It actually posesses the faint hint of all that is good about a chardonnay, but packaged up in a very sophisticated Sauv Blanc. By this I mean it is not in your face fruit/crisp/zing, it has got a nice rich depth to it, a hint of buttery smoothness, but the clean lines of a Sauv Blanc. The fruit is as you would expect it - showcased front and centre - but has a smooth refined character to it that you would find more commonly in other varieties, such as a good Chardonnay. In fact the whole thing has a kind of Chablis air to it, whilst being unmistakenely Sauvignon Blanc. Interesting. Very interesting. Think I'll have another... Alison M. Chris N. The colour of a golden delicious, the boquet is quite acidic initially like a granny smith but a sweetness comes through of a pink lady. Chilean Sauvignon Blanc would not normally be a choice for me but this is a gorgeous wine. I like this chilled, and recently had a dinner party and all were really happy with it. I'm torn between trying another bottle to see if there was a problem with the one I had and avoiding wasting my money on another undrinkable bottle. Might try others from the same vineyard instead. Gooseberry is a tasting note thrown around quite readily when describing SB. I don't really like Gooseberry so I'm quite lucky that I rarely find it my favoured Loire offerings and selected NZ examples. This fella gives gooseberry and lime. Nothing really more. Nothing really less. It's a wine you don't have to think about. It's a simple, uncomplicated, crowd pleasing wine. If this was a TV programme it would be Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.
