Benjamin seems to just keep churning out superb wines. Never had a bad one yet. And by yet, that doesn't mean i'm expecting one!! James R. Thu May 09 12:29:45 UTC 2013 Wow, how easy drinking is this wine? Thank goodness it's only 13% as its going down far too easily :o) ADELE M. Sat Oct 20 17:41:31 UTC 2012 Nice and soft with a great favour and no aftertaste Ross C. Thu Jul 19 11:23:00 UTC 2012 at a friends house Nicola H. Thu Jun 14 21:27:26 UTC 2012 at Great, refreshing and full of depth that went really well with a meal of red meat and pasta. Ian B. Wed Apr 25 14:05:38 UTC 2012 Superb! Full of fruit, too easy to drink... When is it back?! keith t. Fri Apr 20 10:28:15 UTC 2012 Guy C. This is a french GSM (of sorts) & to get the most from a blend like this you should decant it, not just leave it open but unpoured, it needs the air to develop. That or leave it 2 more years but I'm too impatient for that! What you get then is a rounded, dry & earthy wine with soft bramble fruits & a light finish. I'd say this is best enjoyed most with food but can be happily drunk with company, all 4 of us enjoyed this, some even more than the £20 bottle I served first! Geoff F. Agnieszka B. Thu Apr 12 21:31:32 UTC 2012 at a friends house Susan C. Smooth wine with good depth and character. Andrew B. Sun Apr 08 18:33:55 UTC 2012 at a friends house Alan S. Fri Apr 06 10:56:18 UTC 2012 at a friends house Dark berries, plums, cherry and some pepper - a 13% red which is pleasant. A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan it is typical Languedoc fare. Barry W. Sat Mar 17 21:59:27 UTC 2012 at a friends house Not a bad wine at all; good fruity mouthfuls, with an overall robust nature. I would suggest slightly overpriced for what it is David C. Sat Mar 17 08:59:22 UTC 2012 at a friends house Andy C. Reasonable quite mellow Sandra B. Tue Mar 13 07:13:43 UTC 2012 at a friends house Jonathan C. Sun Mar 11 21:18:06 UTC 2012 at a friends house Aaron C. Tue Mar 06 19:18:16 UTC 2012 Tim S. Nice flavours, slight sharp edge Mark D. Mon Feb 27 20:29:26 UTC 2012 John M. Smelled metallic on opening, tasted very smooth after breathing for a few hours. Duncan H. Sat Feb 25 21:23:18 UTC 2012 at a friends house Really nice wine Mawson C. Tue Feb 21 14:08:19 UTC 2012 at a friends house David S. Sun Feb 19 20:53:44 UTC 2012 at Nice well rounded red. Maybe a little rough Edward B. Wed Feb 08 23:18:56 UTC 2012 at a friends house Full fruity goodness with a hint of French ness but (hubby's opinion) doesn't have those pesky tannins. As someone who likes the tannins but also the soft rosiness of a burgundy we likes it Victoria G. Sun Feb 05 18:38:46 UTC 2012 at a friends house Another fantastic wine from this wine maker, the taste devlops and has a long last. Gary B. Fri Feb 03 18:15:14 UTC 2012 at a friends house J R W. Thu Feb 02 23:04:20 UTC 2012 at a friends house Really unusual and interesting flavours on this one. Fruity and inviting nose, promising but very dry at first until allowed to breathe for a few hours. Black cherry fruit and soft tannins on the tongue, it's fairly light in body but not in flavour. I picked up cherries, liquorice, thyme and pepper but the predominant taste was of salted fruit and an intense smokiness that you'll have to forgive me for this but I can only describe it as essence of gunpowder (I know). Loves food and went really well with a spinach, feta & pine nut tart. Unlike Ben's Minervois I'm not sure I'd drink this regularly but it's a really unique wine which I've enjoyed tyring, I'd love to know the ratio of the grapes used to make up the blend. Fri Jan 13 22:24:31 UTC 2012 at a friends house Middle of the road red. Tastes like a good French table wine but with peppery/woody flavours of an Ozzie red. An ok red but not one to shout from the rooftops about Andrew J. Fri Jan 13 20:15:24 UTC 2012 at a friends house First taster as I try to expand interest in wine. Enjoying this one, a little fuller than I was expecting from French red! Matt H. Wed Jan 11 21:26:43 UTC 2012 Rich and complex and quite earthy. But needs a serious amount of breathing for the flavours to come through. Brett C. Mon Jan 09 19:27:21 UTC 2012 Another cracker from Benjamin! Greg B. Fri Mar 16 08:55:08 UTC 2012 at a friends house Martyn W. Tue Jan 03 18:18:43 UTC 2012 at a friends house An OK wine. Not enough taste or flavour. Nothing really bad but nothing really good either! Fri Dec 30 15:35:30 UTC 2011 at a friends house Full bodied with loads of flavour.Would recommend kelvin m. Thu Dec 29 19:05:00 UTC 2011 at a friends house Lovely!!! Mark B. Thu Dec 22 22:01:24 UTC 2011 at a friends house I found this initially dry and acidic but, the full flavour of the fruits came through as more of an after taste. Not sure if I would buy again soon as for me, it's a bit of an acquired taste, not to say that I wont ever buy it again as I'm sure I will. I think this is best drank with a meal rather than on it's own. Phil U. Thu Dec 22 16:45:52 UTC 2011 An absolute cracker! AnneCatherine J. Thu Dec 22 15:35:52 UTC 2011 The wine tasted off. I think it was corked. Waiting for a refund Christian K. Thu Dec 22 07:45:16 UTC 2011 it was verty bitter Anne B. Wed Dec 21 17:56:25 UTC 2011 rachel G. good taste james g. Sat Dec 17 20:55:33 UTC 2011 at a friends house Fairly pleasant wine that lacks a bit of punch. Quite fruity, but nothing really to write home about. The cork crumbled upon extraction and broke, so we had to strain in / pick out the bits! Overall, an average experience. Keir T. Fri Dec 16 21:07:00 UTC 2011 at a friends house Sam W. Sat Nov 05 20:57:12 UTC 2011 at a friends house Alastair B. Sat Nov 05 20:08:06 UTC 2011 There's something about all of Benjamim's wine labels that makes you feel like you're in for a real rustic treat. This one is no different. Firstly, it smells wonderful and the purple/ruby colour certainly hints at Grenache as a dominant part of the blend. On first whiff, it struck me that it was like a young rioja with a bit of oak followed by spices - mmmm Once I had tasted it, it made sense. God this is bloody good! Soft red fruitiness, really good tannin and balanced acidity. I couldn't wait to fill the glass again! This is really smooth with reasonable length and suspect it has a few years in it. Wow - once again another winner by NW's and Benjamin. Let's hope it becomes mainstream quickly - please! Cheers Barry barry g. Mark B. Fri Jan 13 12:49:23 UTC 2012 at a friends house having loved the VOP i was quite disappointed with this wine, although it it possible my bottle was a little "bad" Richard D. Tue Nov 01 21:07:23 UTC 2011 at a friends house Nice. Was surprised to see it was French. Would have thought new world. Matthew H. Fri Oct 28 19:39:06 UTC 2011 at a friends house It is just gorgeous jeni s. Tue Oct 25 18:29:18 UTC 2011 at a friends house Simply delicious, smooth, rounded and a wonderful aroma. I was hugely surprised. Derry L. Mon Oct 24 18:06:03 UTC 2011 at a friends house First off a lovely vein blood dark red colour, aroma on first opening is slightly earthy but very ripe red fruity with a hint of rijocaish oak. Fairly sweet on first taste (in fact the last sip of the glass still tasted sweet after a slice of Bakewell budding!) with lots of fruit and a hint of spice, followed up with some very pleasant subtle tannins in the long finish. Lighter than the colour and smell had me expecting but not what I'd call a light wine, medium bodied and rich, certainly if tasting it blind I'd have put it at a year or two older and hope to try this again in a couple of years as I suspect the the 4.5 stars will have gone up to 7 or 8 out 5 by then. It is certainly improving in the glass as I write this review and I'll try to save some to taste again in a day or two and add some comments then but even then it is safe to say Ben has created yet another winner! I can't help thinking people like Ben, Miss Vicky and Joe and Ryan are just what France needs to keep its place on top of the pile in the 21sr century. David T. to be honest all of the wines ive tried have been delicious and better than in the supermarkets Keely W. Sun Oct 23 19:01:55 UTC 2011 at a friends house Good for a french, but can buy better for the price Alan D. Fri Oct 21 15:54:32 UTC 2011 at a friends house A delicious rich yet not too bitter. A convert to red wine in the making Claire Louise A. Fri Oct 21 13:02:06 UTC 2011 at a friends house Lovely taste, to go with red meat as a meal wine. Drank several bottles of this as the taste is superb. Nothing too strong, but subtle enough to make you want more. ben j. Fri Oct 21 11:20:06 UTC 2011 at a friends house Peter M.
