This is a smooth velvety merlot packed full of plumb and raspberry notes with a spicy chocolate aftertaste. A great wine to just sit and sup on it's own (which is what I'm doing). This 14.5% abv wine is no different on that it looks rich on the glass, and in the nose. But it is the characteristic nose and flavour that ultimately pervades and warms the senses.... Rich and fruity(! late summer fruits, brambles & the like), deeply coloured, and with a pleasing length, this went jolly well with a rich tomatoey pasta - and more will be going in the basket just as soon as I get my first (new!) paycheque! I like this one, not quite so much as the Arabella Shiraz, but nevertheless I'd have a couple in my cellar for the right occasions. Naked wines reckoned it would get a "nil points" from me and gave it a red cross, but on this occasion I disagree. Wonderful fruity nose, blackcurranty both in nose and taste, a bit of tannin for interest but not too much to make it unplatable, although you can definitely tell it has a high alcohol content from first sip. So flavoursome but not overpowering. A gorgeous after taste that lingers. Far too easy to drink, have had it with a variety of food, including fish and chicken, delicious! But also enjoy it just as much snuggled up on the sofa watching crappy tv. I probably order at least two Arabella's in every box. Yum yum yum...off to open a bottle now... Catriona d. A very pleasant wine with a hint of tobacco and vanilla on the nose. A lovely flavour of ripe plums and redcurrants. Reminded me of the redcurrant bush in my Nan’s back garden, nothing better than eating redcurrant's straight from the bush they just don't taste the same if they're shop bought. It had a lovely smooth finish with no harshness, nice soft tannins, and a long soft finish with that spicy warmth underneath. A very pleasant wine and a bargain at the price. A deep, earthy blackcurrant at the front of the palate that develops into the big chocolate and coffee flavours promised. Dark, rich, medium bodied with a plush texture this is well rounded and the sweetness of the fruit is perfectly balanced by the mocha notes. No wonder this has been picking up awards it really is good and for this price you have to take your hat off to the winemaker.
