There is a little more acidity than tannin so I supesct this will be better drunk in the next year or two, unlike the 2007 which is probably at its best about now. I shall certainly buy more. Definitely one for breathing this - when we opened it last night we got a very strong whiff of bacon of all things! The next evening it's settled and it's very pleasant. A little harsher than the wonderful Dusty Dog we had last night, but not surprising given its youth. Peppery too for a Cabernet Sauvignon, although not of Arabella Shiraz proportions. Personally, I''d go for the Shiraz at the same price, but would quite understand if people were to choose this. 3.5/5. Alastair L. This wine has a great look, a great nose, but is much better to taste, trust me! Or maybe not - as to some the braai twang is just too much... For me, this terroir-driven element just adds to the pleasure, but I can understand that it might not be right for everybody. The fruit is delightful, and my recollection of this has moved from blackberry to more blackcurrant in nature. Big, wholesome and delicious with a lovely long finish too. Barry W. Athough I liked it I expected a lot more from this wine.It's not bad but it's nothing special either. Doesn't have the full bodied flavour that you get with a good Cabenet.
